How Do You Grow Old?

Examples abound of “mature” folks who inspire and delight us; who add to our lives in countless ways.
The differentiator is often simple enthusiasm—for the opportunities, challenges, people, places, everything in their lives.
It’s a choice we all face many times daily and choosing to be enthusiastic and to look for circumstances that create enthusiasm is key to living an extraordinary life.

The older we get, the more we have to offer others, and the more reasons we have to be childlike in our enthusiasm for life. We are given more ways to SEE- and understand and appreciate, and therefore be supremely grateful for all there is in life. This alone is enough to be enormously enthusiastic for every moment of every day, to be in a sacred state of gratitude, to be enthusiastic about being alive, for the chance to give back for what life has given us. That is what growing older can be. The challenge is, what are we making of the later years as we face them, live them, breathe them in and out? What are we doing with our wisdom and grace? Do we waste them complaining about illnesses and how the younger generation is letting us down or are we celebrating? I say CELEBRATE. Let's give everything we can back and expand the world even as we begin to exit. That's one hell of a way to go out.
Even those of us committed to personal growth and transformation, struggle with letting go of the old and moving forward with change. I think your observations are entirely accurate and insightful... As usual :-)
