The Truth

“The truth is incontrovertible. Panic may resent it; ignorance may deride it; malice may distort it; but there it is.”

Sir Winston Churchill

One of our “Eight Elements of Personal and Organizational Effectiveness” is to BE HONEST – to tell the truth first to yourself and then to others.

Some of us have become somewhat desensitized to dishonesty. If you are into excuses , they abound in this domain! Some advertisers, the person doing repair work on our home or automobile, politicians ….. and many more examples, model deception if not outright lying. This has the unfortunate side effect of generating a culture where truly being honest is more and more the exception, certainly not the rule.

Lots of “stuff” clears up in our personal and professional lives when we simply tell the truth. Let me know your truth by commenting below.

With love and respect,

Robert

Hi Robert - good timing about honesty - just happened for me today. I won a $300,000 contract and over the past few weeks discovered that the work might not have to be done. I told the client this afternoon - knowing that that their decision would likely cost me $70,000 of profit. They took in the information, the expense has already been approved by the FAA - so they could go forward. They decided to present the facts to the FAA and let them decide what to do next week. Perhaps it will still come around in another way - or I told the truth and it cost me $70K...

Trust you are well - Cheers, Steve Collin

The truth is sometimes a slippery thing; it depends on which part of us we're listening to at any given time. The part that wants to fool us into sleep, the part that wants us to Work, the part that wants to flatter us. If it is the part that wants us to Work, then it will pull the wool from our eyes and show us who we really are, and sometimes that truth will stun us- and lead us to grow and become. Hopefully, it is this part that I will be listening to today. Lovingly, Julia.
